Thought you were going to have to wait until Boxing Day to grab a bargain? It seems that’s no longer the case with Black Friday hitting the UK today! Originating in the US, Black Friday is a major shopping day where retailers cut their prices and consumers go a little…well let’s just say crazy.

Although Black Friday started in the US as a major shopping day following Thanksgiving, not wanting to miss out on all of the fun, UK retailers decided to get in on the action too. It’s thought that today is going to be the biggest Black Friday in the UK to date, with an estimated £360,000 being spent on credit cards every minute!
Some retailers are even expecting Black Friday to beat their Boxing Day sales and are offering huge discounts throughout the weekend, up until midnight on Cyber Monday.
Black Friday trouble
The Black Friday frenzy has already kicked off in the UK, with police being called to a number of supermarkets across the country as crowds go crazy for Black Friday offers. In the US people have been known to get seriously injured on Black Friday so let’s just hope British consumers can stick to the rules of queuing (just like every other day of the year).
Black Friday online sales
Instead of facing the crowds, it is thought that many consumers will be doing their Black Friday sale shopping online this year, with predictions of 8.5 million online transactions taking place in the UK today. Brands are throwing discounts left, right and centre at consumers on social media and if you haven’t got round to checking your inbox yet, we’ve got a feeling that it’s going to be full to the brim with offers!
Black Friday tech offers
Some of the biggest offers can be found on big ticket technology items from the likes of Amazon, Apple and Asda, so if you are after a new television, tablet or even an iPhone, today’s the day to do the deal.
Speaking of deals, a number of mobile phone contract providers are offering fantastic money-saving offers to consumers willing to sign up today! We’ve shared a few of the best Black Friday iPhone deals we’ve spotted so far below…
